Web-based visualization and analysis of metagenomic datasets
MEGAN is a popular interactive tool for analyzing and visualization metagenome datasets. Usually, the metagenomic dataset is created on a server and then downloaded onto a desktop or laptop for analysis. The file containing the data can be very large (many GB). To enable browsing and analysis of metagenomic datasets provided by a server, the goal of this thesis is develop a java-web start version of MEGAN that can read data directly from a server without needing to down-load the entire datafile. A very good knowledge of Java is required for this thesis.
