Simulation study of metagenome projects
Metagenomics is a rapidly growing new area of research. The aim of metagenomics is to study communities of microbes by DNA sequencing. When devising a new metagenomic study, there are a number of crucial questions to ask: which sequencing technology should be used, how many sequencing reads should be produced and which analysis tools should be applied?
The goal of this thesis is to perform a simulation study (based on the tool MetaSim) to test whether the use of new Solexa paired-ends reads technology is feasible.
This thesis will be supervised by the Huson lab (Uni Tuebingen)
