Automated image analysis for high-throughput phenotyping
The Weigel lab studies the relationship between genotypes and phenotypes of plants and the latter relies increasingly on the automatic analysis of photos and films taken of plants as they grow. In a recent diploma thesis, methods were developed for measuring the basic characteristics of a plant in a photo,
such as total area, number of leaves, shape of leaves and denseness.
The aim this thesis is to continue this work to refine the analysis of individual
images and to start developing basic algorithms for tracking the development of
individual plants over time.
This thesis will be jointly supervised by the Huson lab (Uni Tuebingen)
and the Weigel lab (MPI Entwicklungsbiologie Tuebingen)
